US AMBASSADOR ENDORSEMENT
In July 2013, the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai) launched the Trade & Investment (TIC) Virtual Center, an online platform that links potential Chinese investors with opportunities in the United States and provides resources to U.S. companies investing in China. This platform builds on the investment project prospectus that AmCham China distributed during the December 2012 Ambassador's Investment Forum.
Since its launch, the Trade & Investment Virtual Center has helped states and cities such as yours connect with potential Chinese investors. For example, through the Trade & Investment Virtual Center, the Hollywood Regional Center raised $52 million from Chinese investors... (click to read more)

As a US law firm helping US and Chinese clients with cross-border business, we often are asked by our clients if we know of any projects or suppliers they can talk to. The new Shanghai AmCham Trade & Investment Center is now available as a trusted resource we can provide to our clients, so that they can find the partners and projects they are looking for. In addition, as Chair of the Arizona District Export Council, I can already see that the other information and resources that are posted on the Trade & Investment Center will be valuable to US companies who wish to learn how to expand their businesses to China, and Chinese companies interested in investing or selling their products into the United States.

Doing business as an American-owned SME in China comes with challenges not the least of which are limited resources as well as a sometimes adversarial environment. Consequently, we must always look for ways to leverage our capabilities - you could say supplement our own team - as cost-effectively as possible. Fortunately, the new AmCham Shanghai Trade & Investment Center provides such a way. In its relatively short life span, the Trade & Investment Center's team has helped link us to other businesses that we might help or that might help us. Plus, they have held several informative events that have opened us to new practical ideas for our business.

FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT PROJECTS
At Hollywood International Regional Center, since we listed with the center in Shanghai, the Trade & Investment Center team has provided very helpful assistance. Our listing directly assisted us in elevating the profile of the project and raising $52 million USD to bring New York based Wyndham Dream Hotel Downtown to Hollywood, CA. This generates approximately 150 to 200 full-time jobs during the build-out phase(s) and long-term the creation of hundreds of additional jobs running hotel operations. The interaction with the Trade & Investment Center staff has been first rate. We have completed Phase One of the Hollywood hotel project and will begin Phase Two funding shortly. The listing has assisting us in getting things moving faster than expected, frankly beyond our initial expectation, hats off to the AmCham Shanghai Trade & Investment Center and the work they are doing.

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency has long partnered with AmCham Shanghai to highlight the tremendous opportunities that exist for U.S. companies seeking to expand their sales to China," said USTDA Director Leocadia I. Zak. "The virtual Trade & Investment Center is another innovative way to facilitate the success of small and medium-sized businesses in this high-growth market, and USTDA is proud to support AmCham Shanghai in this important effort.
